Not the best background in the world but it does somewhat demonstrate how nature's camo works for critters. Two of these guys hunkered down in the grass when they saw me coming. I nearly walked right by. Had to sit down and wait quite a while before they moved and started back feeding.

Captured in a snowmelt "pond" that will be gone in a couple of days. The water was too deep to see the legs.

Superb! I REALLY love #2. I would have waited a very long time to get that reflection shot.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks for the comments, everyone.

We get a brief window during spring migration when the snow is melting and all of the water birds pass through the interior on their way to the coastal plain up north. It'll be dry in a couple of days and they'll be moved on. I went out this morning and the refuge was nearly deserted already :cry Have to work for captures now...

Thanks for the comments. The reflection seems to be the consensus favorite. The darn bird was determined not to let me get both a full reflection and legs at the same time ne_nau.gif
