I'm with Aaron on this one. I like #2 the best. Belt buckle should be easy enough to clone out. If this is cropped from the original, hopefully you have enough to get more tilt. The only other thing that I might want to see is working the light and dark some more so as to be even moodier.
Nice work!

The Color seems to work for me too. But I guess I would want to see more depth of field to get the hand in sharper focus, the wood grain is sharp but the hand has the action.
Personally I prefer the b&w, but for this I agree on the color version. I'd darken the top right reflected area, maybe consider a vignette to draw away from the blue shirt and pants wrinkles.
Emily, the color version is already vignetted. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/ne_nau.gif" border="0" alt="" > I tried removing the light area in the upper right, but then the photo didn't look right because the dark area adjacent to it is actually a shadow that was cast by the fingerboard. <sigh> I'll have to play around with it a bit more.
Aaron, Kevin. I'm afraid I can't tilt that anymore because that shot was tightly framed.
I added the more contrast and darkness as per Kevin's suggestion and removed the belt buckle per Aaron:
Here's a different version with some more tilt:
A reshoot is possible because our band is playing again on Saturday night and the gentlemen will be in tuxes. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="" >

I like your revised duotone best. The new more tilty version is nice, but the shirt and pants distract. You could clone out the button and darken the pants, but I really don't think it would be worth it.
I love the way the original one really makes you look at the hand where the action is (especially now with the belt buckle gone!).

I agree, I like the first comp better. Also, can you try to either change the luminosity/saturation of the shirt in the color shot or try to change the color all together? I'd be curious to see what that looks like. You may even try a cross-processed tecnique on it just to see what it looks like.

i like both of these alot... maybe the second one more, but its new to me so give me a day....
hmmm
I like the second B&W one that you touched up best....
if you are going to reshoot this, then I suggest filling the frame on some and standing back on others to give yourself some options on the crops and the movements.
One last try at the tilted version. Unless I get a dynamite shot between now and the end of the Mega Challenge, I'll probably opt for this one because the pant wrinkles in the other one are hard to minimize and they couldn't possibly be happening in a worse location. :uhoh :wow
Thanks Linda, I hadn't noticed the wrinkles, now it is the first thing I see.
I like #2 best anyway. I still like the tilt and the shirt and pants blend into the background better now. Great job! Wanna fix mine for me?

What a neat idea! I would never have thought of that, but I see energy in those fingers.

the toned version is more moody...
and my only nit would be the beltbuckle would have been nice to see more or less of...
if you shoot it again by chance get a little more tilt maybe??

Otherwise, I like the most recent rework of the current image - the BW works for me, and cloning the belt buckle is a definite improvement.
What a neat idea! At first "energy" didn't jump out at me, but the more I think about it... the more I like it!

Anonymouscuban, I never thought to try a cross-processing technique or playing with the shirt color.
