IE - Can't login

I reported this a couple days ago, but in wrong thread & buried within another problem. Since at least 3 days ago or so, I haven't been able to login to my site, www.winsomeworks.com using IE on Windows Vista. I don't know when this started, because I normally use FF & only use IE as a back-up plan or to see how things look for other people using IE.

I can click on the "login" link at the bottom of a page. The login box pops up, & I try to login. It acts like I'm now logged in (I do not get an error message or any other indicators) but I can't do any of the normal things I can do when logged in... no editing choices, etc., and unlisted galleries don't appear. And "login" still appears at the bottom. If I were logged in, it should only give me a choice to "logout". If I try a 2nd time to login, I don't even get the dialog box... it's as if I didn't even click on "login".

I reported earlier that large preview photos were appearing in the wrong place when using IE. That is now corrected.... they're fine. However, the thumbs (in SmugMug view) are awfully fuzzy. Large previews aren't nearly as sharp as in FF either. Thanks for any help. --Anna Lisa ( ETA: I'll have to check & see what version of IE we have. I'm assuming the latest.... will return with that info.) IE 8

Are your cookies set to "yes- accept" - and are you logging in at www.smugmug.com or nickname.smugmug.com or your customdomain.com ?

Do you have your IE set for zooming?

Sorry it took me awhile to get back ("new" camera to play with!). Yes, our cookies are set to accept for SmugMug & some other sites. I'm putting www.winsomeworks.com in the browser, arriving there, and then clicking "login" at bottom of screen, then putting in my email and password. I click "login" and voila, I'm right back at same visitors' view & can't do any of the logged-in work like editing.

On the other issue-- zooming evidently gets clicked sometimes (I never knew there was such a thing; my spouse showed me). However, if left at 100%, the large preview photo in SmugMug style ends up at bottom rather than to the right where it should be, at least in some galleries like this one: http://annalisa.smugmug.com/gallery/6704667_LAjfv#268304062_UN9w4 . If changed to 125% the preview photo is placed correctly, but thumbs are very fuzzy & preview isn't as sharp either. In this gallery: http://annalisa.smugmug.com/gallery/7985519_8npep#525804999_DFfd3 (and perhaps others), keeping zoom at 100% keeps thumbs sharp. But preview photo is always in wrong place, no matter the zoom level.

For the login issues, be sure to clear your SmugMug cookies, and your custom domain cookies if you have them. The 2 sets can get out of sync causing conflicts.

For the Zooming issue, check your display settings to make sure you are using the optimal display size for your monitor. If they are set incorrectly, it can cause problems. Also, the Large Font setting using the higher display DPI setting will cause the problem you are seeing. You may need to set it back to the regular display settings. A quick way to reset the Zoom is to hold the control or command button and tapping the number 0 on the keyboard.

I have the same issue. It started about 2 weeks ago. I cannot login using IE7.0.6001.18000 (latest) on Vista. I cleared all the temporary internet files, and checked the Temporary Internet Files folder - empty. I have no problem logging in with Firefox. I have not changed my Internet Options in IE, and tried setting Cookies to Accept All Cookies, but that did not help. Other suggestions other than installing IE8?

Can you list in exact gory detail, the steps you are using to login (with links).

Andy, no working on Memorial Day weekend! My steps:

    www.smugmug.com
    click login
    https://secure.smugmug.com/login.mg?goTo=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smugmug.com%2F

What? It's working now in IE. It hasn't worked for 2 weeks. Maybe a sporadic issue. Anyway, I'll come back to this thread if it appears again. Time for an IE8 upgrade maybe.
