I love the treatment of the building and the background in the first. Not so much the sky.

In both there is an odd lack of perspective, the buildings look like illustrations stuck on.

Seems like a good location for some interesting antique textures.

Quite nicely balanced post work which gets the feeling across. Did you use a plugin?

Maybe give each pic a main focus and compose around that, eg in the first, the leaning white picket fence. Vary DOF?

Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

Great first post, Jason!

I haven't figured out the whole HDR business myself, so I can't help much on the processing, but I can tell you it looks great!

In the second one, it looks like you've got a slight bit of distortion, but that might very well be the building itself.

I like the first, and I agree the skies a little odd. But that's what you get with HDR and a blue sky, it turns it gray. One technique that can be used is to take the EV 0 exposure and use it as a separate layer in Photoshop. Then mask the HDR sky and let the blue sky completely or partially through.

I like both of them very much. So often everyone is trying to make HDR look like "what was there" but have always been partial to the overly HDR look...it's an art form unlike something out of the camera. Sure, we could use HDR to blend both highlights/shadows but heck, this style gives it a cool edge
