Dolichopid fly portrait session

Trapped this fly in the kichen and used the honey drop trick to keep it occupied whilst I took a series of focus stacks. Food seems to make these immune to the normal "flash response" of this flies. 5 or 6 shot focus stacks upto 4:1 magnification using zerene stacker.

Well done! I'm still amazed that you can take shots to stack where the subject is likely to move on you and ruin it for you.

That's amazing. I've never looked into focus stacking too seriously, but I am seriously impressed by your results here, and might have to now.

Poor guy has lost couple of bristles... But other than that, very healthy looking fly!

Thanks for the comments all - much appreciated

Mark - I was suprised this fly didn't even flinch when the flash went off- they are normally very flash sensitive.
