I've been wanting to upgrade from my D40 for a while now, and when I came across a D80 for a good price, I couldn't resist. I got the chance to try it out recently when I finally talked one of my coworkers into doing a shoot with me. And to my luck, she brought along one of her friends. Here are a few pics that I liked. Let me know what you think.

your link to #6 appears broken

overall very nice! #2 and #3 look to be a bit underexposed. The backgrounds are very dreary and lack contrast. #5 is my favorite though I think the left side could be cropped more. The other thing about $5 is that it almost appears the left side has a strong vignette but not the right side.

Thanks Qarik for the comment. Number 6 is now fixed.

As for #2 & #3, the backgrounds were very bright, so I lowered the exposure of the background in PS to try to have it even out with the girls. It's my 1st time trying something like that, so there is still much to learn.

    Hey Alan,

About the pics: Overall I'd say good job thumb.gif

    As for C&C:

1 ~ 3: something looks strange about the backgrounds. Looks like artifacts from some kind of manipulation.

    4) Like the comp & PP

    5) That yellow dress is overpowering your model. Some dodge/burn would help a lot

    6) Again, that yellow dress is way to bright for the rest of the image. It pulls your eye away from your subjects face

    7) Like it. How'd you pull off the IR look?

    8) Burn the rocks above & behind your models, that brightness pulls the eye there instead of your models

    9) Like it.

Look forward to more of your shots.

Generally speaking, I really like these. The composition is nice, the concept is clean. The ladies are quite attractive. Well done on all these counts. thumb.gif

The down-side? Can you say posture. This is, IMO, a failing on the part of the photographer much more than on that of the model(s). The lady in yellow in particular.

Thanks Randy and Scott for the replies and critiques. Randy, #7 is a filter in Nik's Silver Efx program.

Scott, I totally agree about the posture, and it's definitely something I need to look for in the future.
