Got to go to my second motocross event this season (Saturday and Sunday). I had not been since 1982 and I am really enjoying it.

The Saturday event featured vintage and post vintage racing and a reunion of sorts from the old gang.

Here are a few of the pics I took. As always C&C are welcome as I am very much a novice and trying to learn.

1 and 2. My friend from elementary though high school and old racing buddy on his Honda CR250.

2. Another of my friend...

3. Ugly background I know. But they had a little trouble in the third turn so I couldn't resist....

4. Reminded me of one of the reasons I'm of the sidelines taking pictures.

5. This guy #4 was a competitor of mine way back and we had some really tough battles. He stayed in great shape and ended up being the event winner. Congratulations Paul!

And while were talking vintage - here's and old film shot my mom took of me at our old track (I think in 1977). I have tried to restore it as it was very faded and crinkled.

There was also a modern race on Sunday and I hope to post a few of those soon.

Thanks,
Andy

Yes she does very good. The guys at the reunion really enjoyed the photo album I brought - especially those who found some old photos of them too!

that thought has crossed my mind...

my active years were 1972-1982. what were yours?

I see a big IT sneaking in there. I have an IT 465, an 82-490 Maico and a 79-390 Husky.

and they're all for sale. :D

Wow, those were big bikes back then. I remember seeing a few of those but they were never main stream around here (NC).

I had a shorter career during the same period. I was racing from 1976 through 1982. I had all Yamahas, YZ80, YZ100, and YZ125. Unfortunately I don't have anything anymore. :cry
Still thinking of a plan to talk to the wife! headscratch.gif

I did get to ride my friend's (the guy on the x73 post vintage 250) 2008 Honda 450 (I think its an CR) last Saturday and boy was it weird and HUGE. Never been on a bike that big (with that much power or brakes that good) or any bike in 20 years.

So, you say you are going to sell them all. Are you still riding any these days - just playing around?

What's wrong with you guys? Racing is still more fun that taking pictures. My career (if you want to call it that) is from 1973-2009 and still going. Heck, I'm only 53, I figure I've got another 20 good years left.:D Oh and there were a few breaks in that time spread. I haven't raced consistently all of those years.

I hope it was only layoffs and no Broken Bones!

Maybe someday I can get back out there.

for starters every place I rode when I was 18 is now devloped or off limits. count yourself lucky if you've been able to stay at it this long and trust me I ain't done yet. :D

I rode a Dual Sport Class on a MX last year on my 2008 Yamaha WR250R if that counts...

Breaks were from obligations, broken bones, ventures into bicycle racing and flying.

And I don't race modern MX anymore. Haven't for years. Mostly hare scrambles, enduros, trials and some vintage MX.
