The Cherry Ripe Report

I debated on whether to put this here or in the Accessories forum, seeing as how these bars have nearly become as important as filters and memory cards...

First, some background. After nearly going bonkers with all the cherry ripe this, and look at me I am eating boxes of 'em, that, I finally decided to plop down some hard cash and order them over the internet.

They showed up mere moments ago from our friendly UPS guy. Both Jen and I have sampled our first bar. Now what has been missing all this time is a report on what they are like. So, here is my report.

Subject: Cherry Ripe candy bar
Taste: Like a Mounds bar (the one without almonds) with a cherry flavor and a reddish center color. About as sweet as a Mounds bar if memory serves.
Texture: Soft and chewy and somewhat fibrous with the coconut. With all the coconut, you have to chew this for a bit. Very pleasant. The chocolate tastes good, slightly more waxy than a Hershey bar. I did not feel any cherry's or get a whole or piece cherry sensation, it's mostly a coconut feel and cherry flavoring. There are pieces of cherry in there, but they are too small and soft to be felt, the coconut is by far the overwhelming mouth sensation here.
Reaction: It's a good bar, a little thinner than I thought it would be, but I would eat another. However, if the house were burning down and I could only save one candy bar, it would have to be a Snickers bar.

p.s. I am putting two in the fridge and two in the freezer to see what difference temperature makes on the experience. More info later.

Subject: Polly Waffle
Taste: Chocolate, waffle cone, marshmallow.
Texture: Soft with some crunchiness due to the thin waffle cone that encases the marshmallow. Chocolate covers the whole bar.
Reaction: This is an odd bar. I don't think I would buy another one. If I had one given to me, I would gladly eat it for the novelty of it. Worth it for the first experience. In a burning building, I would probably stop for a moment to watch it burn, then go grab the snickers and cherry ripes on the way out.

I thought I had ordered violet crumbles, but I guess I ordered the polly waffle by mistake. So if I get other bars, I will make a report.

Are you nuts man :yikes. Cherry ripes so beat out a snickers. Now don't get me wrong snickers are still great. But it's the Cherry Ripe that will rule this world.

Coconut can drop kick peanuts all day long, this I know. Well, I have 4 bars left, so we will see how these grow on me

Well, I can add a couple of Australian snack that I was lured into buying from our friends down under...

Velvet Crumble:
I was kind of disappointed by this one. To me, it tasted similar to a Whoppers candy, but with a much finer texture. The chocolate was good, but the inside didn't seem to have much flavor. No where near as good as a Whoppers.

Now for the Tim Tams;
mmmmmmmm........chocolate
it's basically a chocolate sandwich cookie (much lighter than an Oreo) with chocolate cream filling and covered in chocolate. These are great! Not as good as chocolate covered Oreos, but they're up there. I got the original variety. The shop also has several other flavors.

A note for you guys ordering this stuff online. I asked them how they ship this stuff, and they said they'll ship it anyway you want. But they highly recommend overnight delivery. Nothing like waiting for a fix in the mail and it turns up melted from 4 days in hot van.

Mate...mate...mate...what you do with a timtam is bite a few mm ( 1/8") off each end...get a nice strong espresso coffee & use the timtam as a straw. You only get a few seconds to drink with it as it but its a triple whammy sugar/choc/caffeine hit.

Gus,

The bush bananas, wild nuts and wild watermelon all sound great. You can keep the Witchetty Grubs and the Carpet snakes though. I doubt if even Andy would touch those

Update (it grows on you)
I like the Cherry Ripe refrigerated much better (taste, texture, etc). And as it turns out, I downed three of them the same day I got them. And now, I am trying to figure out if I have space for a case of them, and if so, how many pounds extra they will make me gain hehehe.

Shay my friend.......don't try and work it out, you'll go crazy, just go with the flow, and give in to the cravings, and admit it.....your hooked bigtime aren't you.
Next time Gus sets foot on US soil they'll probably arrest him for being responsible for the mass outbreak of Cherry Ripe Crack Heads

Whatever you do, don't get hooked on TimTims cause they will take you down Shay, there's no going back once you go over the edge.

My cherry ripes are here and in the fridge. I had one tonight. Gonna restrict myself to one a day to make them last. I did get big peices of cherry that I can see and feel in my mouth. They are like crack god are they good.
