The first one would be great, except nothing is in focus. The second one is TOO CUTE.

I have to agree with Caroline. Love the 2nd one...the look on her face is killer ! but nothing is in clear focus in the first one on my screen either. The closest part I can see as in focus is the top of the left shin pad?

    Thanks for the comments, folks.

I see very slight motion bur, not an oof image. Perhaps that's also what you see? Regardless, I don't think a little fuzziness hurts this shot, personally. I'm sure that the first inclination is to think a shot of a couple kids kicking a ball must be razer sharp but I'm very glad I don't feel that way. Hopefully some of you will feel the same.

Have to agree with above comments.

#1 - You can clearly (no pun intended) see the plane of focus some 2 feet behind the kicker. Not much, if any, motion blur here.

    #2 - That's a wall-hanger! Just too cute! Oh, and nicely in focus too!mwink.gif

I love a good controversy, so forgive me for arguing my case against oof here. :D

First, here are two blown up crops of the left and right side of the kicker's head. Notice how the edge of the head is nice and crisp on the left side, but blurry on the right? Obvious, albeit slight, motion blur...

And, as for the depth of field, I will offer a more oblique view of this young kicker. At 5 years old he had considerable kicking power and you can see why in this shot...

The depth of field isn't off; he's leaned back. The lean was most pronounced during his follow through, which would put his shoulders back another several inches from this photo.
