Photoshop> Background >your desktop?

At collage in the media room I'm working on photoshop cs3, and they have it set up where you can see your desktop as a background in the null space area right before you open up a photo.


Now how can I do that here with cs4?

    My desk top is neutral gray when I am editing images.

    Many feel that colored desktops interfere with seeing color accurately when editing. I think it is true for me anyway.

    But I think you missed my point, or I didn't explain it the right way?

    On the computer, and the mac I use there, I see the background right after you start cs3 is null, by default it's gray, tan, However on both the units at school, I can see the desktop even when both computers are up up and running.

    Switch through the four viewing modes by pressing F when in photoshop.

    In CS4, if you are on a Mac, you want to choose Window/Application Frame. This will give you a nice application background and is distinct from the Full Screen modes. So you can have floating windows while still having a neutral gray background without having to change your actual computer desktop.
