Went to brunch today with some of my immediate family--What started off pleasantly enough quickly took a turn as my brother got to listen to my mother give him a piece of her mind.

B.D. has an exercise I hope he will do here. It was an assignment for his class last spring that ended up getting dropped for lack of time. There was a very evocative picture with the title "Madison". We were supposed to write the first page of a short story based on the picture. It took me a little while and more than one view, but I knew just what the story was I wanted to tell.
I think the point of the exercise was how many different stories could fit the picture. But I'm not sure. Maybe the point was how well the picture told a single story.
Anyway, your first shot could have served as the focus of just such an exercise. Nice.

Missed your post earlier--Yes he handled it:)--he has that gift unlike the females in our family. He just rolled with it--I was just glad to be observing and snapping away. Glad it did not involve me this time:)

And this is part of your life, it's personal, and it comes through. I hope you continue with photos like this and start thinking about a "project."

agree with others, its the first three shots that really "sings".
i would just like to point you to an observation,
i understand that it's your brother thats the point of focus here,
i really like your story and the way you capture it. however....
it's the litle sideshow on the left that really shines,
the windowlight and grain work incredibly good.
i dont know if you was aware of the possibility when you took these shots,
but you almost struck gold, you could have captured a couple of really classic b&w portraits.
Tortilla Torture:
Love your crops---why didn't I think of that? Everytime I go back to my first few shots, I kept looking at my son and his sullen expression and liking it more and more.
I did take a few of just him--but I think your cropped versions work better.
Here is one of them.
Most of the others I took in color--JPEG--and wasn't happy with the results and so played with them in PP.
This is one of the few I got of him alone in the b&w grainy---all SOOC.
Again, I'm happy you liked the series. Who knew a tense breakfast would be such a boon?

aha... so you DID think of it!! and you did a wonderfull job, this shot is excelente!
i didnt mean my crop/suggestions should be used as full pictures, i was only getting a visual to my point, that there was another subject in the photos that i thought you didnt realize was there.
but again, you did notice, and you capture it beautifully. well done!
(the reflection are just great!)
