I grew up in San Francisco and loved walking up and down the hills daily. But none of them bend and angle around like this one.

So did you sit there patiently with your camera waiting for the walker to get to this spot?

That is one cool street and you captured it well.

Thanks. I often select a background and wait for the foreground to fall into place, but this time I just saw the shot and took it. You know, it's funny--that street is just a block away from where I live and I have taken shots there many times before, but somehow I never quite saw it this way before.

Hey, don't forget the Russian Hill part of Lombard Street. lol3.gif

I'm gonna have to agree with the others, Richard. I like this shot a lot. At first glance it didn't feel like a "people shot" to me but, after letting it sink it, it really demonstrates what a long journey walking down the street can be. thumb.gif

    Richard,
Not to over analyze:D , but I like the contrast of the older man with the cane walking up the steep hill. Just seems like a little struggle and that he's used to it (hand casually in his pocket).

Great b&w shot, like the contrast very much.

Was this taken very early in the morning? Seems so desolate--

    Thanks thoth and Liz.

Liz: It was taken at about 10:30 AM. Usually there are more people and some traffic, but it was just quiet at that moment. I was literally standing in the middle of another street to get the shot. Probably not a good idea. rolleyes1.gif

Love the shot and the story it can tell (or you can tell yourself about the picture).
