I LOVE this shot! Its so dreamy!! I cant even fathum how you did it...

At first glance, looks to me like it's just very good natural lighting, a slight overexposure on the bride (and a tripod being involved for sure).

Could be an off-camera flash snuck behind the bride too if the natural light wasn't making the dress and veil light up like that.

    Am I close tenoverthenose?

I finally have something real to add!!!

Here it is - from my first wedding earlier this month - in all it's glory:

I'll get around to posting a set here, I promise... I'm curious as to what everyone will think. Maybe I've been waiting so long because I'm afraid I'll get completely crushed, and in the meantime I'm enjoying the thought right now that they're not so bad :)

that is great! Expression trumps everything! (although the everything --lighting etc-- all looks good as well.

All natural light (coming through the roof) lighting up the bride. No tripod at all, just a handheld shot.

No flash behind the pillar on this one. There was enough light streaming in the center for ambient alone. ISO was upped quite a bit and worked on in post.

This thread is a great idea. I have far more 'interesting' wedding shots, and more challenging. But for sheer joy, and light, I guess this is it...

I got lucky here, when they came out for their first dance, and a spotlight shot down from right over them. Couldn't ask for more.

Ok, Ok, Ok, I'll play, too!!

I've only been to weddings as a guest and as a second to one wedding... while I do love the shots I did as a second, this one just blows me away every time I come back to it. It doesn't help that her reception was also where my husband and I got married, that just makes me love it even more.

We got a 16x20 printed out to hang up on our house - if the bride wants one, she can order her own.

It's my sister's best friend and her husband during their first dance. I will admit, I stole the idea from her pro-photog, but I saw her copy online and it was just awful. The flower is actually the top of her cake.

My husband was unable to make it to the wedding, but as soon as he saw this picture, it was on our website within seconds. Guess he approves :)

that is REALLY pretty lighting - is there overhead glass with natural light streaming in or is it just really well color balanced overhead light? Here water welled eyes have such gorgeous reflections =)

I shot my first wedding this weekend. I'm actually very new to being behind the lens. The photographer didn't show and I was there with my Pentax. Please tell me what you think.

I'm a Newbie, This is my first posting, I hope I do the embeddable link right. I work with minimal equipment, always looking for the best ambient light. I do almost zero post production, so I'm sure this is a rough version of what it could be. This was a spontaneous pose created when the Groom finished his moving toast to his elated bride. The overcast day gave just enough light through a large window behind them. a%3E did tht work?...554927502_MBuRq-M-1.jpg

I also like this one for story telling qualities: a%3E554925290_qjtXH-M-1.jpg

I've only really shot one wedding as a second shooter for a friend. I snapped this candid with my backup XTI and 50mm 1.8 while he was "borrowing" my 50D and 17-40L...
