David and Jess have been engaged since shortly after we made it back from last year's shootout adventures, and we've been planning on shooting engagement photos for at least the entire summer. Recent developments involving Tracy and I heading to Asia and Australia for several months starting Saturday (another story altogether, watch the journeys forum :D ) pushed us to finally get this done, so here's a few selections!

1) We started at the fire station, illustrating the interesting reversal of the typical roles. :D

2)

3) I made a couple versions of a few of these, and I have a hard time deciding whether I like the bold "real" colors best, or the subdued desaturated ones. Ah well, they're great either way I think. :D

4) Having had enough of the morning cold, we headed inside to use the bigger, better, brand new million dollar firetruck for a prop. :D

5) I forgot my reflector, but we made do with my single flash, right up next to the ceiling in the station.

6) Ewwww, gross!

7) I got David out of the picture for a nice portrait of Jess alone.

8)

9) This one I feel I should re-shoot a little better. I mean after all, how many photographers get to incorporate the JAWS OF LIFE into their ring photos? :rofl

10) Then we headed out to get some more cold winter shots, and I totally ripped off someone else's photos. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right Heather? :rofl :D

11)

12) They made some save the date signs out of legos, which turned out to work really well with the lighting off at sharp angles.

13) The strange phalanged plushy is Cthulhu. Google it if you have to. :dunno:rofl

14) This one came to me suddenly, and turned out pretty fun and was really easy to do with a tripod or two. I'm sticking it in the toolbox to do better at other locations in the future.

15) I tried hard not to fall off the metal roof for this shot, and was successful!

16) And lastly we took advantage of a friend's shop to get a bit of a silhouette.

wow! the last few shots are big winners. I had to laugh about you being on top of the metal roof, the shot was worth it, glad you didn't fall.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Blurmore, yeah I think I know what you mean. Overall we're all happy with the results though! :D LarryP: Yeah I can see it having great potential in a more picturesque setting for sure, it just came to me while I was glancing around for ideas and we had this metal signpost...

    Thanks again all!
