Las Vegas Wedding Package-My Slide show video at the end.

I was an out of town guest at the wedding, I had my Canon D5 Mark II and flash only for a few days, had just switched from Nikon. I did crack the books for a few hours before the trip. The count on the camera shutter by the time I took my first photo in Las Vegas at night was

Ashley went with a Wedding Package for coverage of her Wedding. :barb:barb No stress, Food, Vegas, no driving, Beer, Vacation time. Did I mention Free Beer, Free Food, Vegas! in MARCH. :eat:beer Great, new camera new flash, and a wedding to attend.:scratch :scratch I could not resist using the new camera. I was armed with 1 flash, 1 camera and 2 lenses (F4 L range 24-200). Well by no means was I going to miss the fun and I did not want to bother the Wedding Photographer. At the event I kept my distance, never called for any one to look my way but did have to remind a few people that I was not the photographer. :deal:deal Just before and during the wedding, I did catch the photographer copying what I was doing.

How many of you would honestly try this at the formals.

I was not the photographer at the wedding so I didn't get all the photos that you normally need to complete a nice package.
And you know I tried not to get in the way. Did I mention Free Beer, Free Food, Vegas! IN MARCH. :eat:beer


That is not me but you could see I was feeling It. Things did get a little blurry.

Do you see what I did, I let loose. I did things that I would not do at a Wedding for which I was paid. I learned a lot from doing this and from looking over what I did.

I learned that F4 L lenses are sharp but the need for speed is greater, I now have a 50mm f1.4, and plan to get a 85mm1.8 and a wide 28mm or 24mm-f/1.8. I learned that high ISO on the d5 Mark II is not bad and by using the higher ISO the background gets brighter and brighter. It's the same with the aperture, I knew all this, but this was a very good reminder. You always have a trade off, fast lens-soft photo/ high ISO-bad noise/long exposure-blurry photo.

I always enjoyed landscape photography with extreme sharpness, infinite depth of field and extreme control of camera shake, waiting for the wind and just the right moment. I use a tripod, MLU, and cable release to avoid any contact with the camera from taking away from the photo. In this wedding I learned that I like the effects of dragging your shutter and camera movement at the same time. Almost to the point of swing the camera from the strap. At one point I think I did that, must have been the beer. When dragging the shutter its hard to control a good outcome but the good photos are very good.

A wedding is a celebration that we share, as a photographer it's part of our job to show it. Being a guest was a reminder that, if you join in on the celebration it shows.
