Canada Day Fireworks - St. John's NL

This is at Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John's. I miscalculated a bit on exactly where the majority of the bursts would occur (thought they would be to the left of the tree), but, by the time I realized it, it was too late to find another spot. In retrospect, I think the tree - and the people - might even add to the composition and establish scale. What do you think? Do you have a preference?

I love these photos! I love the feeling I get of the people gathered together, sheltered by the tree, and the fireworks above.

My favorite is the first one. I think I like the layers of fireworks, then the tree, then the people.

If I recall correctly, my dad was in St. John's during WWII. I've been longing to go there. It's great to see it in your photos.

Photos that impart a feeling are the objective and dream of every serious photographer. Thank you for such a generous compliment.

I haven't taken a lot of pictures of St. John's - even though I live only 20 mins away from the city. However, there are a few scattered through my galleries, and, if your dad was here in WWII, he surely would have seen seascapes at Flatrock and Pouch Cove similar to the ones in my galleries.

Thanks again for looking and commenting.
