Snow scenes around Terre Haute

It has been cold and snowy in the midwest since the beginning of this year, so I decided to make the best of it, and go out and explore around town.

A few frames I have collected recently around Terre Haute

There is a playground in Fairbanks Park, but there were no children there to enjoy it.

The fountain no longer works, but it still an interesting architectural work in the snow

The open air theatre is a bit cool for the performers right now

The graffiti writers have been busy downtown, however

    Sweet shots, my friend! thumb.gif

The perspective of the first one is uber-cool! Were you using an ultra wide or are the verticals on the playground distroted in real life?

    Hi Chris.

I was shooting at 16mm full frame with the 16-36 f2.8 L, so the distortion is lens related, but I thought it was kinda cool, too. The verticals were erected straight by the playground builders.

Never knew the ol' hometown could look so interesting! Thanks for sharing! I was just back this week but took mainly family shots. Haven't been to Fairbanks for many many years! Fun to see it again.

All except the second image were hdr images tonemapped in Photomatix, and processed in Photoshop, that is correct, Dan. The second image is a straight image processed from RAW in ACR.

    Glad you liked them.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I like your cycling images on your site - well worth a visit for folks that haven't seen them!

Nice, Jim! That fountain structure is so cool, and I agree in the snow against that blue sky, the lines just speak for themselves. It could be something out of War of the Worlds thumb.gif
