More close-ups

I have decided butterflys are much harder to shoot than Dragons. They never sit still! One decent one out of many attempts.

I found this one on a wire fence.

It looks like he has a bum leg and some scars from a recent battle.

Wonderful shots Thomas- especially like the Dragonfly closeup. Certainly looks like it's been in the wars.

I love the 100mm. I use it as a portrait lens as well. I think I'll get some extension tubes to try my hand beyond 1:1. Never used the 60mm so I can't comment on that. Good luck with your decision.

Very nice Thomas. Butterflies kind a grow on ya though. Early morning they may be a little slower before they warm up in the sun. Nice series.

Thanks for the early morning tip. There is a Butterfly house down in Gainesville, FL that is on my todo list. Maybe I could talk Harry into meeting me down there.

Anything with wings are a pain in the neck to shoot. but I would have to say that butterflys and dragons are twice as hard. Feel lucky though I'm still here in germany for the next few months and I havent seen one dragon in 2 years allmost.
All though with these outstanding photos you sure make it look easy. Wonderful shots Thomas!!
