B&W Snowscapes

Out the other day shooting the snow covered landscape & took these which, given the trouble the snow has caused around here (93 schools closed for 2 days), I felt had a suitably desolate feel in b&w.

What do people think? Yes? No? Pass me the crayola?

I think you can afford more saturation/shadow/contrast. #3 is strong.

The last one is tough to work with.

I'd like to see more B&W landscapes. It's worked before -

as in Ansel Adams....

Rags, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.
I got some time to play with the first 3 the last I'm still working on.
What do people think better/worse/blah?
