Flea Market quesion

Recently a forum member posted an item for sale in the flea market. No problem.

Some one posted they were interested in this product but that the price posted was only $25.00 less than a new one. (This was my first thought when I read the post as well, but didn't post to this effect) I see no problem here. :scratch

Out of curiosity I checked the guidelines and found some statements I didn't and don't understand.

I then posted:

Is it possible for you to explain this? Especially the "Ignorance is the best policy for price adjustment." :scratch:huh:scratch

I was asked to remove my question / post, which I have done, but my question remains.

The only issue I had was the Ignorance is the best policy for price adjustment statement. That seriously smells.............

I have no issue with the OP, I see nothing wrong with theposted providing accurate pricing information. The price info was not made in any accusatory way.

My question is simple.......Is it wrong or a violation of official policy to make honest statements about a product or price?

Please note if I offer anything for sale and you want to ask an honest question about the price, go ahead. On line off line why would I care?

The problem i see with talking about asking price openly is that the original topic could get buried very quickly.

While that language was a bit obtuse - I do agree that all price comparisons from other DGriners should be stopped.

Now - if a person wants to propose a price lower than what is asked - that should be fine. But don't state that monkeycameras has it for sale at $$$.

It becomes too much for the threads when people start posting other sites with other prices. That's what PMs are for.

My view, FWIW, is that this should also be delegated to PM as well - negotiations are a private matter are they not?

Tend to agree - but at least it is not price policing per se. If the offer is bad then the seller can respond or not respond, and others will know, too. But - I see the point.

i'll bet you five dollars what he meant was Ignore-ance; ie like it says now..ignore it if it's priced to high and the seller will probably take note..(paraphrasing poorly!)
