I need all your opinions please

Hi all,

[FONT=&quot]I few months ago I decided to venture into wedding photography. I read many books, researched and read some more.

Anyway with that said after 4 months, a website, gear and classes. I managed to put one wedding under my belt and one upcoming in May!

I've had some feed back from friends and relatives and some others too..
But I’m looking for some feedback(thanks Weisel ;-)) from this forum on my pictures.

As far as your website goes, I HATE having another window open, while your "enter" site stays up in the background. I like the slideshow once it opens, with the tabs at the bottom, but I'd prefer it not pop out of the previous one. That's my two cents.

As far as your photography goes, I like it! Some of the photos are a little too soft and dreamy for MY taste, but it seems to be your style and some people may love it! You got some nice expressions and some good details.

Of course you meant "feedback". It's just one word. Unless you are expecting a refund on some feed, and hope to get it back.
As for the photos, I agree that they are too soft, but it does have a nice dreamy look. You just don't want to get too caught up in gimmicks like selective color and over softness. It looks like you have pretty good skills in general, probably better than mine.

I don't like having to click "ENTER". It's not like you're running a porn site and need click through to verify age, etc. Put your stuff right out there. Clients will be happier with that as it's cleaner. More than click to enter, popping up a page that takes the whole screen is also kind of bad.

That said, I bailed after the second picture. Pictures looked OK but I need to multi-task and that big window wasn't doing it for me.

Jordan that is very impressive work for a couple weddings under your belt. Even if you are already an experienced shooter that is impressive. If you are truly new to photography I would say you are on your way my friend! I think you found your calling.

I looked at your wedding galleries. it's difficult to comment on your photos because of the heavy heavy processing. To my taste they are overdone..way too dreamy and colors are too unreal. All I can say is that the compositions of your photos tend to be good.

Focus, exposure, lighting? Again the processing is making it real difficult to say.

Also as crtique of your sight..galeries/slideshows load super slow. If I were a customer I would have been frustrated and stopped looking after a few minutes.

I'm with the others about the website. Too much work to get to the pics. You will lose alot of folks who don't want to take the time to go through them.

I like the softness and composition. Possibly a bit overdone, but good variety. The only thing that struck me negatively about the pics was that they seemed to concentrate on the "details" rather than the people. Very few faces in all of those photos. Nice work, though. You have a good eye.

I definitely like your photography! A comment on the group shot with the bride in the middle: aperture seems too large to me as the people besides the bride are out of focus.

Some thoughts on the site:

I forgot that my speakers were at full power and I think I just woke up my wife. It's why I really don't like music on websites. Good song though, it's just that music is really not for everyone. What about brides who want to leech your site while at work? Music is a dead giveaway

In your about or contact section. There's no address and such? Some more info would be helpful me thinks.

About your site.

I don't like the click to enter, it should go right to your site. I don't like sites that autoplay music. The pictures look great. The last thing is I don't understand why HDR gets it's own button. Most non photgs have no idea what HDR is and why would they care. If you are trying to sell those images you should put a more descriptive tag on them.

I'd also agree about the music thing. One thing that many people don't realize is that there are still people who don't have access to true high speed, so having a lot of stuff on your page that slows it down, like auto-play music, may turn some people away. I know it does me - I have satellite internet and whenever I hear music, I click away quickly so as to not use up all of my bandwidth.
