Customization Question

In order to get a frame of reference, please look at my web site:

http://www.photographybywoodrock.com/

Is there a way (other than using Categories/Sub Categories) to hide the "Gallery Categories" section on the home page, but have a link to "Galleries" up in the header that points to a page with just the gallery categories? Similar to the other links that I have in my header.

I feel that the Gallery Categories section is too large and customers are having to do a lot of scrolling to find what they want.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, if you take a look at my site, I have done what you are asking, I believe. If this is what you are looking for, let me know, and I can explain it :)

Yes, this is exactly it! thumb.gif

I'm guess by the looks of it, you created a new category "Photos and More" and then a bunch of different sub-categories. I was thinking that might work as an option, but I was wondering if there was a different way to do it.

BTW - Love what you've done with the site! I didn't realize about the date search - that's a neat feature.

And one more question - for your updates and links section, I'm assuming you used a gallery in Journalistic style, but what did you upload as a "photo" that ended up being blank?

    Hi :)

That's exactly what I did. I created a main category, "Photos and More" and then sub-categories. Then I "hid" the categories on the home page (you are able to do that when you are logged in). It was a bit time consuming going into each gallery and changing it's corresponding category, etc., and I have nowhere near the number of galleries that you have. Wonderful site and great pics you have btw!! If there is an easier way to do it, I haven't found it yet. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist :)

The date feature is something I learned about here in the forums. I think it's pretty slick!

For my Updates and Links section, you need to create a gallery and force it to the "All Thumbs" style. In the "Description" section of your new gallery, place any information you want and then place this at the end:

    <style type="text/css"> .nophotos { display: none; } .opening { display: none; } img[width="84"][height="100"] { display: none; }</style>

    No pic needed :)

    Hope this helps.

Thanks again for all the help. Last night, I just went and rearranged all the galleries- only took about 30 minutes, so that wasn't too bad.

Thanks for the tip on the Updates and Links section. I'll keep that in my back pocket.

    Take care!
