    Canon 7D, 450D, 50mm 1.8, 50mm 1.2, Mp-e 65mm, 70-200mm f/2.8L USM, 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, Canon 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM, 580exII, some sigma lenses:D

    Really it depends on how much you want to spend. Card for card the 4870 beats the GT 120 hands down, but they don't give you many options, so choose what fits your budget.
    Taking pictures and enjoying life, who could ask for anything more?

    In fact I have been thinking that a 27" monitor is pretty good and I could spend less money on the iMac with the faster processor and maximum RAM ...

    The iMac would more than likely be the better deal. The only need for a Mac Pro is for a workstation. For Photoshop and photo editing an iMac would suffice fine.

    Because they have to make "mac versions" so they can charge more for the exact same card flashed with a different ROM. I've seen people who have bought 4870's off of ebay and flashed them a different ROM, saving them lots of money.

    If you are going with the iMac, get the i7 model - nearly the performance of the current Mac Pro for 1/2 the cost.

    I have an 8 core Mac Pro with the ATI 4870 and seems to work great for me. Not sure what anything better, more expensive, would get me.

    In fact I have moved to this one with the 2.8 GHz processor and with 16 GB of SDRAM.
    I am expecting to use it with the LaCie 18" as second monitor or/and with the Wacom Tablet.
    I think the problem these 27" had at the beginning is gone and they are OK now. thumb.gif

    16GB of RAM is a lot for a desktop comuputer. Personally I would go with 8GB and save some money.

    Will 16GB give you extra performance? Yes, but only when doing a lot on your computer at one time.
    Is it worth the extra $800? No.

    The extra 8 gig RAM can be purchased from other world computing for about $300.00.

    You can always start with less, and purchase more later.
