Scenes from Croatia

I've been meaning to share these on here, but haven't gotten around to it until just now (which is self evident, I suppose).

Last September my wife and I drove down the west coast of Croatia from Pula to Dubrovnik along the Adriatic Sea, with a side trip inland to the gorgeous Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Here are some of my memories:The hill town Motovun in northern Istra:

The coastal town Rovinj in eastern Istria (panorama):

A distant waterfall into one of the upper lakes at Plitvice Lakes (Plitvička Jezera) in Lika:

Another waterfall at Plitvice:

The ruins of ancient Salona near Split (panorama):

Split as viewed from afar (panorama):

Boats on the Cetina River in Dalmatia:

Beautiful country. I can't wait to go back. Thanks for looking.

Great pics, show more! :) Only been to Dubrovnik myself, it's definitely a country that requires a second more thorough visit. I remember their amazing red wine cultivated right above the coastline, mmmm
Street & Portrait because of the people. Landscape because it's pretty.
Disappointed with AF of Tamron 28-75 2.8, me less happy.

This is another of my favorites (I've framed it and the boats).

And the rest of my shared gallery: Republika Hrvatska, 2009

It certainly is, and Dubrovnik is probably #1 or #2 on my list.

The natural beauty of the inland national parks is hard to compete with. It was unfortunately not this full when I was there, but the color is accurate: Plitvice Falls (this is right next to the largest falls in the park, to the right from this view. Unlike all the others, it's not fed by lakes above it, but rather by a stream).

I've been wanting to fly into Greece and drive up either through Macedonia and then over into Montenegro or up the coast through Albania and Montenegro, either way ending up back in Dubrovnik. But I think I'll wait until the economic situation gets resolved.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

I have the lake as my background on my desktop. I was VERY envious of you having gotten to see it in person. It is Beyond GORGEOUS.

Quite. Having just returned from Yellowstone, I'm still convinced that Plitvicka is the most beautiful landscape I've ever witnessed (including the coast and forests of CA, the lagoons of the south pacific, etc.).
