Productive Grebe

Hi - just wanted to share some photos with you of this beautiful bird.
All photos were taken at a distance so as not to cause any disturbance.

Nikon D300 + Nikkor AF-S 70-200VR1 plus TC1.7 (all at maximum focal length 340mm).

    Lovely Herman but what kind is it? we get the hooded and eared and pie billed where I live oh and clarks but this ones a beauty too. # 5 is my favorite by the way it's a sweet image.

    Hello Deb - its the Great Crested Grebe (Latin name: Podiceps Cristatus).

    Good set. I have not seen them piggy-backing the chicks like that. The great crested grebe is a funny bird when its crest is out!
