This is the beginning of why I started shooting weddings. A couple years ago, my little sister informed me that I was going to be photographing her wedding. I was really just into shooting sports at the time, so you can imagine my reaction was pretty much "yeah... right." She planted the seed and I decided I better find some poor sap to experiment on, so off to craigslist I went. I've done a few weddings over the last year and a half. She found her man and set a date for next summer. So we did a little engagement shoot a couple weeks ago. Be brutal please.

We started in Eldorado Canyon when the sun was pretty high.

Here's the clincher. I live in Colorado, but she is living in California and they are getting maried on the beach. For someone who really likes to make it tough on me, she sure keeps at it.

the emotion you captured is great. You can see that they are really happy. Except for the a few shots..you know what I am going to say..the harsh sun is simply killing them for me.

I think over all you done pretty good. You already know this but you asked, harsh sun is your enemy...............fill flash your friend, (yes a fickle friend), but one you need to reach an understanding with. :D

I really need to work on my fill flash....

All really nice bit harsh on light but good. Any chance of more on an overcast day or near sunset?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Harsh light is always the enemy, but not always avoidable. I keep plugging away on the fill flash, but it doesn't always work. Proximity is the key.

about half 70-200 and the other half 24-70. I also switched between a D300 and D700.
