Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenge #53

Welcome to Round #53 of the Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenges. This challenge is open to any Dgrin member that is not eligible to compete in Mega Challenge #8.
It will run from Monday, June 14, 8:00am PST time (GMT -7) on through Monday, June 28, 8:00am PST time (GMT -7).

The topic ready for your interpretation: innocence or knowledge

There are no editing restrictions for this round.

Two themes so totally on the opposite ends of the spectrum of meaning. Choose one and show us how it speaks to you visually.
Young or old you too can participate as long as you are not qualified to participate in the Mega challenge #8

Innocence or Knowledge

Your Judges:
divamum: (Winner of Round 51)
Guest Judge: Eclipsed

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your entry is to be submitted directly into a SmugMug gallery. It's pretty simple, just go to the gallery link below, and follow the upload instructions at the top of the page: Remember, the basics stay the same: 1 entry per person, and the photo must be fresh, taken during this contest period. Do not use a minimal save method (such as "save for web"), and your EXIF will be embedded in your image, no worries!

To avoid disqualification, read, in full, the Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenge Rules, there have been some slight modifications

Since I'm new to these challenges.. I am not sure about this:

Welcome to Round #53 of the Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenges. This challenge is open to any Dgrin member that is not eligible to compete in Mega Challenge #8.

What is Mega Challenge #8? eek7.gifscratch

    Sorry if that's a dumb question! Laughing.gif

Mega Challenge #8 is located here.

Once every approximately 6 rounds all of the top 5 places from the previous regular rounds are eligible to compete in a Mega Challenge.

Participants that have qualified for the Mega can not compete in the regular round that happens at the same time.
but if you end up being a top 5 placer for round 52 then you might be qualified. So until the results come in from the public vote for round #52 you will need to think about both.

    Hope that makes sense

ok that makes sense. Does it take a few days to detemine the results of alphabet soup?

Nevermind.. I just read the answer to my question on another page with info about the challenges.

The voting thread will likely be posted tonight if I get the results from both judges today.
Once the voting thread is posted there is 72 hours that everyone has to vote.
What this means is you will not know the results until Thursday or Friday.

Are there editing rules for this challenge? Like basic editing only as in Alphabet soup?

Not this time around no. (There are no editing restrictions for this round.)
The rules still apply so no frames are allowed this round but that is a standard.

I updated the Original post as well :D

Those of us who haven't yet qualified for the Mega will be looking for Innocent Emergence or Knowledgeable Emergence or Emergent Innocence or Emergent Knowledge for the next few days. :D Peekaboo!

    Can layers be used?

For example, can I take multiple photos and layer them to create one image?

There are no editing restrictions for this round, so that would be a big YES you can do that. :D
As long as all of the photos are taken within the challenge time framemwink.gif

Trying to work on "Emergence" and "innocence" at the same time.
Been stalking the Labor and Delivery floors nearby--surprisngly no one has jumped at the chance to have a stranger and amateur photographer record the blessed event rolleyes1.gif.

I'm coming up blank, blank, blank so far, and real life is insane at the moment - last mega I qualified for I had to bag out because of RL commitments, and this time it's looking similar: I'm prepping to go on an extended out of town gig and swamped (for the right reasons, but it still limits my creative photography time!). My apologies in advance if I don't get an entry put together.

My problem is that my son put a great idea in my head and I'm not sure I can pull it off. I can't think of any other ideas that would be better than that.

Another missed contest....I had a couple of (I thought clever ideas) but never did get my arse in gear....and I lacked a 3 year old and a Santa outfit to pull one of them off

...its been hot as blazes here (yesterday was 107)

....and I just got myself a Nook
....and just DL Lightroom so I am learning that too...I guess I am on a small photo hiatus...

It seems maybe others are too, as there were fewer submissions than normal (but all beautiful shots!)

Hopefully my muse will come back so I can play next time!

Only one Disqualification this time around (and an anomaly)

I tried very hard to find some EXIF info for this image but alas there was none to be found. :cry
Okrafeet - Awe come on, Mom!

UPDATE: We have a strange anomaly

This image showed up sometime after I closed the gallery for uploads.

Several things make this entry disqualified
    1. No Dgrin user name
    2. No title
    3. It has been collected not uploaded.
    4. I was not in the gallery at all when I closed the round.

    Sorry Jeff

    Sorry Sherstone.

I'm new to the whole dgrin atmosphere and didn't really know where I was going. I too am surprised that it let the image in, but that is the one I would have submitted. Maybe I'll get it right the next time around.

So sorry that your first experience with Dgrin went down this way. Yes please do try again and just upload your entry into the gallery vs. collect.

Sorry for the delay, folks - Sean knew I was in transit this evening, but road construction meant that what is normally ~2hr journey took me over 5 hours meaning I'm WAY later than I was anticipating!

I'll post gallery comments tomorrow at some point - thanks for your patience and understanding! thumb.gif
