Some captures of the local birds from this weekend. Night heron, ibis, egrets... There are a lot of FOWL characters here in Florida. :D

Good light to all.

    Wow!!

Those are awsome. I especially like the first couple with the wings spread. Great detail and contrast.

Wonderful shots, Birdman. As per usual, re crispness, the light here is awesome, as is your walk into your "backyard" to use the light.

Could you please lend the night heron to Harry, I know he has an outstanding example, but this bird, he has a je ne sais quois.

Could you please say what lens you used to get these birds to fit, smile.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I am pretty lucky to have such a "backyard". :D I just wish there were no seawalls, houses, telephone wires, sheds, etc etc. It makes shooting a "natural" looking wildlife shot rather tricky. Too many good captures have been ruined with "baground junk". I really need to get out more often. rolleyes1.gif

    Ginger...the equipment used.

Lens: Canon EF 200mm f/2.8 USM II "L".

    http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=153&modelid=7315

I did not do much cropping with these images...but many of my other BIF have a good bit of cropping. I can't wait to pick up a 300mm or 400mm. I really feel I need the f/2.8 version whichever one I go with. I need to take full advantage of the 20D's AF system. My eyes are not the best and manual focusing is out of the question.

    Camera: Canon EOS 20D.

I guess with the 1.6x factor I gain a little distance with this 200mm telephoto. I have been impressed with this lens since day one. It blows me away often. I picked it up used on Ebay for under $500. It was in like new condition...and also came with a B&W UV MC filter. :D I think I got a good copy..what do you think?

    Cheers
