First thread v. London and New Orleans

Hey everyone. Long time forum user, first time grinner.
Last October I visited an ex in London, she was studying abroad for a semester. here are my favorite pics:
(of course I cant find a mess and not pick it up)

Then I signed up for a b/w 35mm photo class so my photos improved a bit. For spring break I went to New Orleans to volunteer.
Notice the water level lines:
the "X" is from when rescuers searched the house; date on the top, agency who found the house on the left, whether they could get inside or not on the right, and number of bodies found on the bottom

One of my favorites:
All of those were shot with a Cannon A560. mostly on auto. no tripod. levels messed with in pshop. (lots of noise, I know)
Shortly after that my camera and my dads old 35mm were stolen. So I recently purchased a d40.
My favorite three from the first adventure. Full manual only. (I didn't remember/know to change iso. its all 400). Levels adjusted in ps.
f/8, 1/4 sec
f/8, 10 sec (manual focus on this one. it was too dark for the AF to work)
f/5.6, 1/10 sec (my first car was an el camino just like this, lol)
Saturday my dad is getting married so I just found out I'll be participating in taking wedding pictures. (he has a d300, but I dont think he will be doing too much photograhpy), There will be 2 or 3 other people taking photos as well, hopefully I find an artistic edge. haha.
Aaaaannnnnddd next week I'll be in Italy for 11 days (Rome/Venice)(family vacation/honeymoon so the new 'fam' is all going). I'll probably shoot on automatic mostly if we are on the move and don't have time to set up a shot.

It's really hard to comment on the photos individually without a label/number on them.
I will say that I like the shot of the car (Mercedes) in the alley but think it would be better cropped at the top to remove the distracting buildings.
Some of the early shots have significant motion blur - you'll need to watch those shutter speeds and ISO on your upcoming trip
The bathtubs where you worked would have made for fantastic shots if you got up closer and took one with the 'men working' sign over it.

I'm jealous of all the traveling you've done and are doing. I really hope you keep posting them so the rest of us can visit the places, too.
