Had some fun shooting the windsurfers out in Palo Alto. Wind was nice
for a time and then just dropped.

    I miss windsurfing.

They're all awesome in their own respects, but I want to know what happened a few seconds after #3. Either he just made a super fast tack, or he's about to bail big.

I agree I like #2 as well Ian! But I'm also fond of #1 as it give you some idea of locale too!

Nice - is this up off of Mountain View/Alviso?

    Nice ones Ian thumb.gifthumb.gif

I'm partial to #2 also clap.gif I haven't got to the Baylands for a few months. I do know that most of the juvenile egrets and herons seem to have moved to San Antonio Rd. Also, on the way back from shooting in Redwood City/PA I saw some white pelicans land and had to stop at San Antonio Park. They were there in large numbers.

If I get a chance tonight, I'll post a few. Nothing great since it was midday light, but those guys are so pretty. They almost remind me of swans iloveyou.gif

Hey Andrew, PA Baylands is right off 101. Take the Embarcadero off ramp towards the Bay (opposite of the Stanford off ramp). Go all the way down the road until it ends and then turn left. That will take you into the Baylands Preserve :D

    Hey Steve!!

Okay I know where that is..I used to work up in PA (looong time ago for a copier company) and used to haul my mtn bike up the roof of the CRX to ride around there on my lunch..If I remember rightly of course...

    Lots of birds I remember.

    Neat, Ian
The double sail double windsurfers is kind of unnerving! I wasn't sure what I was looking at at first :):

Nice shots, it's almost too hot for me to go there now. I'm hibernating in the fog...

    Thanks all!

The first three are a father and his two sons. I was trying to get all three
together but the youngest, in blue, is pretty good and was headed out the
    channel for some fun.

To answer the question of what next?

I tried my hand at the panning. Not near as good as Andrew :)

    And finally, another of speedy...

Nice shots! I'm surprised no one voted for #3 -- I like the unique ballet factor you don't always see in windsurfing. I do like #2, as well, but I think I would like it cropped not quite so tight (and I'm usually a tighter the better type guy). I was doing a walkabout in San Pedro yesterday, and stumbled across the place they call "Hurricane Gulch". Very intense winds, and the windsurfers and kite surfers were going OFF! It was a joy to watch.

    Good job Ian.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Just to give you an idea of the distance, the hills in the background are
about 4 miles from where I am standing (which is at entrance to the old
    Palo Alto Harbor).

    Thanks Steve!

I went for the birds but nothing happening. It was such a nice day that I
decided to walk over and check out the windsurfers. 5 is too much. Next
time I think either 1-4 or more likely the 300.

    Can't wait for those spare 1ds's :)

    Thanks for the comment!

    What's unnerving about the shot?

    Thanks,
