The Photog Becomes the Bride...

Got a Facebook message back in July from the distant cousin that shot my wedding saying that she was getting married and I was her first choice as photographer. No pressure, right?
Her engagement session was Sunday, at 2 in the afternoon. We haven't had a cloud in the sky in nearly two weeks (causing it to be 85 in the afternoons and lows around 45...) Naturally, the ONE weekend I needed at least clouds, we didn't have any. Due to our crazy schedules, this was the only time we could do it. Joy. Had to recruit my best friend to be my "diffuser holder" seeing as the husband was out of town, it was um.. interesting..
Luckily, the bride's been in my shoes, if she feels we got the shot, we moved on. (Her Christmas session I did for her lasted 20 minutes - seriously)
Most of these were inspired by The Greats that hang out around here (Angie, Heather, Patrick, Jeff.. you know who you are).

2. Love our mossy covered oak trees. This was shot from a boat in a pond, it was the only angle to get this shot from. Interesting setup to say the least.

5. Accidentally on purpose...
I didn't like her posture in this shot, so I gave it some love to fix it.. I mean uh... sure, I had this in mind when I clicked it..

I love love love 2. Well worth the extra boating effort.
It is interesting to me how 1 & 3 are sooo similar, but 3 is miles and miles ahead in the "flattering" department. She looks gorgeous! #1... not as much. There ya have it: further proof that choosing the angle for the client rather than the pose is the thing to do.
I had to keep adjusting her sweater so there was.. How do I politely say "even covering" over her "girls".
I see what you mean about those shots, I didn't realize I left the step ladder at hom until we were already there, but I was just tall enough to make it work with them sitting down. I let her look through the camera when we were done to make sure she had the ones she wanted (only because she is who she is, I rarely let clients see the shots) and she was immediately drawn to one of her looking up at me, did wonders for her figure! "We look so skinny!" She's lost a good deal of weight recently, so I had to flaunt her figure, otherwise all that hard work on her end wouldn't even show.
