Hard to believe this was the same little girl as this post, she's grown SOO much since June!!

Here's her late 6 month/holiday shots. One of the shots from this session will become her mom's (and very possibly our company's) Christmas card, I'm just SOOO torn on which one.

Her mom's seen a few of these but not all of them.

Enjoy!

C&C Always Welcome.

1. Snow Princess... I say that and the heat index topped 90 today....

2. Baby in a bucket!! This is mom's front porch! I didn't edit the color of those bricks, it was just begging for me to use some red and white.

3. Fairy. She was sooo sick (congestion and a mild infection) so she had enough playing with us. I still love this though. And for the record *I* didn't put the wings on her, her mom did that!

4. Staying warm. I had a special request to use the bear rug in a shot, so we re-arranged the living room (which meant moving some seriously heavy furniture) and I had to use the fireplace. Yes, it's on. Yes, it was 90+ outside when we shot this.

5. Witch... well, kinda. We were going for the witch look, but Miss Sunshine didn't look mean at all.

6. Oops. An outtake when she was refusing to play with us. I love it even though it has serious flaws.

    You're too sweet!!

Lots of patience, lots of noisemakers and have mom *directly* over your shoulder so they look at you and not where she is.

    Oh, and fire quick!

Oops, just realized I didn't add this one:

    7. "Christmas cherub" - a friend of mom's called her a Christmas cherub on Facebook, it stuck. I LOVE Mom's dark green door!!!

Even with all this, still hard to get the perfect shot, and it looks like you succeeded a few times!!

    Gotta get in more practice!!!

    Aww, thanks!!

I worked for 15 months in the birth center of a hospital taking pictures of the fresh babies as my day job. We started with a point and shoot (I know, I know) and eventually upgraded to a DSLR, so they weren't your "typical" baby in a bassinet shots. It wasn't near as glorious as it sounds, but it was great practice!

You really have a knack with these little ones!!! Keep up the good work.

Did you ever get a calibration device? Most of these look as though they could stand a bump in brightness.thumb.gif

The shot below...with histogram shows that there is a good bit of room for an exposure push. Pushing things brighter will help prevent dull dark prints.

    I promise!

    She's a doll, isn't she?

I trusted her enough to use my pure sheepskin, which doesn't get used on just anybody (for fear of an "accident" and messing it up) and she even not just used but LOVED a basket I've had for a while that no other baby wanted in.

I guess the best part was her mom saying "oh yeah, I'll move that!" or "sure, I'll turn on the fireplace!" -- I love it when they trust me!

I called my husband on the way home and literally said "I didn't use the white blanket <i>Angie!</i>" and all he said was "Haha, I'm sure she'll appreciate that!"

It's because I'm really four years old on the inside. I'm a Toys R Us kid, I never want to grow up. rolleyes1.gif

I have one, (a Huey) I don't use it as often as I should, but I do have one. I know, I know, every time I turn on the computer

I'll play with it and see, it's already pushed almost two stops above where it was shot. I'm worried about the shadow between her arm and the armrest of the swing going really really grainy.

    Two stops?

Get your histogram to display while you shoot.....like me ( a nerd I know).....and it will help you get a more accurate exposure in camera. Regardless of shooting mode. Expose to the right.

No, you didn't. I see what you're saying, though. It's not a "pure" white, more of an offwhite, maybe that's why I have a tendency to blow it out. I've acquired a few more blankets recently so I've been playing with those (don't worry, they're dark)

And the fireplace shot was a pure accident, kinda. I just wanted the fire on for background and as soon as we turned it on and Phoebe discovered it, she was entranced by the thing, just kept staring at it. Guess she's not old enough to have gone through a winter to see fire in a fireplace.
