My M-I-L is one of the ringers at the local church, one of the bell ropes was damaged and needed replacing, so I offered some "help" (read - stand around and take pictures 
) . Here's what I got
New rope secured
Each bell has a sensor so the position can be monitored on a PC in the rope room, I think its used for pratising without sounding the bells although I'm not sure how as I missed some of the explanation
The big one (Nice Trainers)
Notice the cracks and ties in the walls, originally the bells all swung the same way. The load was causing movement and damage in the tower so the bells were lowered 8ft(guess) and re-hung at different planes to ease the stresses.
The bells now hang between the second and third sets of louvres

they are just finishing our local bells this month so they can all ring (10 of them) at once. They are over a tonne each so i cant wait to hear them. For some reason the church would collapse if they were rung from day one ? So there has been a lot of rebuilding. (prince phillip paid for it believe it or not !!)
