First varsity BB (c&c request)

I shot my first HS varsity basketball game on Friday. Tonight is the second game. The lighting was unlike anything I've seen before. It was very even, little color cycling and 100% indirect. Anyway, my results were fair at best. The cheerleader were setup to the (court) left of the basket so I was forced to the center an left side.

I'm inexperienced and rusty and could use some critique and/or advice. Here's a few example from that game

I went to your web site to look at your data on these pics but it's not available. I was wondering what your ISO, f stop, and shutter speed was. I think that you need to set the ISO so that you can get a shutter speed about 800 to 1000. These look a little fuzzy. You might be able to reduce some of the background lighting by working with the EV.

These were shot f/2.0, 1/500 and ISO 3200. 1/500 is a typically good shutter speed in basketball. Some look soft to me as well. I suspect my technique is the issue rather than the settings.

Those are really nice shots.. Too fix the softness bump the Fstop to 2.8 and see if that helps. That should make a big difference if you have enough light to do that..
