Motorcycle Supercross at Indy?

So a friend calls me up the other day and has free tickets to the supercross races at Indy this weekend. I'd like to take my SLR to take some pictures. Just wondering if there are any rules to follow. I just don't want to get to the gate and be told to take my camera back to the car.
Any advise? Thanks. Ernie

Camera's have always been allowed at Supercross events. I've taken pics at Indy a couple of times.

    Back in the day....

I'll be watching it on TV this year.

I think you should check with the venue. Feld Motosports is BEYOND sticky with cameras at their events. I know at the Supercross in Toronto the lens has to be a certain legth and under to be allowed. I wasnt able to get in with a 70-200 2.8. The Rogers Centre lists it all out on their website (so i found out after!)

But... many have succcessfully made it by security and had no issue and gotten the shots I wanted to get!

Not a problem in Indy. I go every couple years. The best way to get good shots is to go to the afternoon practice session. The crowd is small, and you can move around to shoot from different locations.

    This is the afternoon schedule;

    Saturday
    11:00 am - 11:30 am - Rider's Track Walk
    11:30 am – 11:45 pm - Riders Meeting (Mandatory)
    11:45 pm - 12:00 pm - Chapel Service
    12:30 pm - 12:38 pm - Lites Group C Free Practice
    12:40 pm - 12:48 pm - Lites Group B Free Practice
    12:50 pm - 12:58 pm - Lites Group A Free Practice
    1:00 pm - 1:08 pm - SX Group A Free Practice
    1:10 pm – 1:18 pm - SX Group B Free Practice
    1:20 pm - 1:28 pm - SX Group C Free Practice
    1:30 pm - 1:40 pm - Lites Group B Qualifying Practice
    1:45 pm - 2:55 pm - Lites Group C Qualifying Practice
    2:00 pm - 2:10 pm - Lites Group A Qualifying Practice
    2:15 pm - 2:25 pm - SX Group A Qualifying Practice
    2:30 pm – 2:40 pm - SX Group B Qualifying Practice
    2:45 pm - 2:55 pm - SX Group C Qualifying Practice
    2:55 pm - 3:30 pm - Track Maintenance
    3:30 pm – 3:45 pm - Promoter Track Walk
    3:45 pm – 3:55 pm - Lites Group C Qualifying Practice
    4:00 pm - 4:10 pm - Lites Group B Qualifying Practice
    4:15 pm - 4:25 pm - Lites Group A Qualifying Practice
    4:30 pm – 4:40 pm - SX Group A Qualifying Practice
    4:45 pm – 4:55 pm - SX Group B Qualifying Practice
    5:00 pm - 5:10 pm - SX Group C Qualifying Practice

At Houston Supercross this year there were signs posted saying no lenses over 12" in length. But I didn't see anyone enforcing the signs and once inside I saw some very large lenses. I wouldn't worry about it. If they deny entrance just take it back to your vehicle.

    Supercross
Thanks for the help guys. No worries at all. I prefer outdoor over indoor motocross but we had a great time. We left at 5:30 in the morning and returned home at 5:30 the following morning. Best part was I never got a chance to drive so I got to grab a nap on the way back to Minnesota. 2HE
