  I guess this was just a short (local) outage. When something bigger is going on, they usually put a message online informing you about the status and problem.
  Dgrin is also a good source for information - often people report about this - like you did and others chime in then.

  There was no smugmug and/or dgrin outage last night that we were aware of. Most likely something outside of our network between yours and ours. Of course, we have no control over those things and really can't even track them.
