I tend to like the side moments of sports, i call it sports portraits, but i would be really interested in hearing other names for it. Please pull no punches. Full "Portfolio Gallery"

    The better term is 'Sportraits'.

    But your composition on that Sportrait is lacking. Since you went and cut of her feet, might as well clean it up;

    Sportraits is an area that I do not do well. Or, I should say, I just haven't focused on much. I think shots on the bench and in the basketball huddle on the sideline with coach etc are good shots.

    Good job. I like the crop that Jim did.

    Nice shot. I too like the side moments. I shoot horse shows, but sometimes it's what happens outside of the arena that really tells the story. 1047954612_HjbuS-M-2.jpg

    I agree about the sideline, non-action shots... always fun to capture the emotions on the sideline...here are some of mine:

    Thanks man! I like the ones you posted too. You shoot a lot of Lacrosse? Let me know if we can ever shoot together. You know how to get me.

    I love sportraits. Sometimes they sell better than the action. I shoot with a long lens, so when the action gets close, your only option is a sportrait.

    With the little ones, their antics are better than the action for some fun sportraits.

    Nice ones, Mitch!

    And sometimes, a simple "hey boys gather up for a quick photo" shot turns into a refreshing different take on a team picture:
