this shot makes me really wish that the image wasn't that tightly cropped, so we could see the ground to wheel clearance..
    cools hot, though.

I have to agree with Foques on this one. The shot looks good, but a pulled back view of it would make it better. I personally would have tried to shoot the photo in landscape, pulled back, with the rider off to left of the frame, but I also don't know what the surroundings look like around the rider so portrait may have been your best bet. Good shot nontheless.

I think he allmost hit the pole, Laughing.gif. Looks like you are shooting in some pretty harsh light most of the time. Your getting the hang of the exposures and framing. Now try working on the lighting. Maybe try some late in the day stuff or bounce some light on them with an off camera flash or reflector.

I see why you needed to crop so tightly. Even though there is a pole, I still like the second one.

Yep, I assumed OP didn't go for the crop like GrinGriff showed due to specific dimensions for the crop..?

Its soft. The composition is really strong, even though you don't see all the bike. It works. But it is soft. See what you can do with sharpening, maybe using high pass filtering sharpening instead of USM.

If that was me on the bike I would be like 'Hey that's pretty cool!" But since I don't know the guy it doesn't do a lot for me. Just not much going on there of interest.

The second post does look a little sharper than the first and to me the eyes look sharp which is generally a good goal in portraits. It looks like you have a very small DOF here so there is much that is really sharp. For this type of up close in you face image I would prefer the stickers on the front fender to be sharp.

I prefer you first image because of the nice action.
