    It's a fixed 3.5 thru the range Art... This was one of the top of Vivitars line during the time, granted 20 years ago or so.

    I have this same lens in my closet - how do you switch it to macro and back?

    You have to have the lens mounted. Pull to 210mm, turn the focus ring to macro, push the button and rotate the tab (that contains the button) to macro. Reverse to get back to normal shooting.
