A fascinating small town, set in the West Sussex countryside, alongside the River Arun. This town has a population of about 2,000 yet boasts a Cathedral, Norman Castle and a wonderful collection of historic buildings. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. I only spent 4 hours here to get a taste of what is on offer. To do it justice, I needed much longer.

This distant view is to give an overall idea of the layout. The town lies alongside the river and up the hill where the Cathedral (centre background), Church (to the right) and Norman Castle (right background) are located.
Here is a closer view of the castle taken from the river.
The building in the foreground is beautifully preserved and in use by the Post Office, Hairdressers and other retail outlets. It stands at the end of High Street, on the west bank of the River Arun.

About half-way up High street is the road junction for Tarrant Street. This led to the commercial part of the town with river wharfs and warehouses. It runs almost level around the hill. Here are some views along this road.

I hoped my description and images would capture the flavour of the place. I forgot to mention for those into wildlife (myself included:D), there is a wetland nature reserve with excellent walks along the River Arun. The only thing thats missing is the time to see it all.
