    Thanks everybody. Yeah, Harry. That was all I had to work with. I blew it when I took it. OTOH, it doesn't bother me too much.

    Oh my!

    I barely noticed the clipped foot, although the slope of the branch does lead the eye to that point after a minute. I don't think it detracts horribly from the picture. Just beautiful.

    Thank you all! Yes, it was taken with the 300mm f/2.8 with a 1.4tc on the D300 body, so while I had lots of reach, i had zippo for dof. That's why I shot at f/8. Otherwide the bird's body would have been all oof too.

    However you did it, the bird's body actually stands out from that BG in a way that makes it look almost 3D. I really like it! Best, Pam
