I've been exploring a lot of close up work.

All three of these are SOOC but when I look at the info button the date taken and modified do not match. I even uploaded one via the simple uploader vs Lightroom.

Looks like it might be something with the way you are renaming the files. I am no expert, but the filenames that I see in SM, aren't default Nikon file names. What is your workflow on uploading these? The way you might have to do it, is use the simple upload with your camera connected via USB, or with the card in a card reader. Then browse to the drive for the mass-storage device created when you connect your camera, and then upload the DSCXXXX.jpg file. Doing it that way should leave no chance for the exif data to get changed.

I know that with one of mine that I took... I rotated it 90deg and it said it had been modified. If I only opened it in photoshop for upload it kept the taken/modified times the same. I noticed that your pics have your signature on them... maybe it has to do with that?

I learned from past experience on sooc challenges, that renaming will cause it to have a modified date

Ahhh, when "Windows Import" from the SD card it allows me to "tag" the photos, maybe this is when they are being modified. I will explore. this more. Thanks for the tips. The Watermark is also worth checking out, my gallery autowatermarks when uploading.... I will have to solve this problem, Then pick an image!

Yup, I think it says in the rules that you are not allowed to watermark because adding the watermark causes it to be modified. So Im guessing that is the issue.

If it's the smugmug automatic watermarking then I think it shouldn't be modifying the original image in any way, and the watermark won't be there when he uploads it to the actual challenge gallery.

I ran into modification date change, too. Didn't change the image, but I did highlight the name in a color (MacOSX) and I viewed the photos in Bridge. Ultimately, I had to go back to the CF card and re-copy them.
