Search not finding galleries..

Why is the search function not finding some of my galleries, this is really quite annoying.

http://www.hhcphotography.co.uk/search/?searchWords=yukineko&searchType=InUser&NickName=HappyHouseCats&x=8&y=11

The above returns 5 galleries with yukineko in the title but I have 7 galleries with Yukineko in the title, there seems to be absolutely no correlation between the gallery title and the ones which ARE NOT returned.

It is the same with other searches, this one searching for toshiaki..

http://www.hhcphotography.co.uk/search/index.mg?searchWords=toshiaki&searchType=UserAlbum&NickName=HappyHouseCats&start=0

Returns 14 galleries and there are more than this in my site, notably missing is the gallery More Toshiaki

Unless I am missing something quite obvious here this is really quite an unacceptable situation for the site search to completely miss galleries like this, how do I get this matter resolved???

    Hi Louise,
I checked on your first link. The one missing gallery should show now. For some reason it wasn't indexed properly and I refreshed the search index for it by temporarily turning off "hello smuggers" in its gallery settings and saving. Then I turned it back on and after it finished indexing, it shows.

The 7th gallery is a smart gallery and smart galleries aren't supported in search at this point. It's the "all photos" gallery:
    http://www.hhcphotography.co.uk/Animals/Cats/Yukineko-All-photos/18149196_g6vCzW#1407133204_4sdhZBW

You can give the search refresh a try on your other search. Just keep in mind that smart galleries will not come up in search.

    Hi,

I have hello smuggers as "no make me an island" on settings and "use custom settings" for all galleries on hello smuggers but the list of keywords are incomplete for visitors, I have 2202 pictures with the Keyword "New Zealand" as it shows for me when I am connected, but as a visitor it only shows 188 pictures with this tag. I have a category called new zealand with several galleries and I think only a few of them shows on the keyword list. I think I am with problem on the index like the first person of this thread had. I tried to change to other options the hello smuggers variable on the control panel and nothing has changed.

Other thing that I am really not happy with the system is sometimes when a visitor is on my site (I have a power smugmug account with domain) and enter in some gallery (completely random) the URL changes to www.smugmug.com/something and my theme or style changes as well. As far I understood the smugmug system code was functional, no idea what is going on if it is my setup that causes this behavior or what, if it is my fault please I will need some help to fix, the only thing I know is it is not acceptable to have the URL changing to something other than my domain, I am not happy already with the part of being mandatory to advertise for the website on the bottom of the page, I didn't know that when I signed if I only knew it I wouldn't sign but now it is already done so I have to live with that but the URL and style changing needs to stay put.

    The website address is http://www.krahephotography.com

    I appreciate any help, thanks

    Hi Krahe,

    1. I see 2199 photos for the New Zealand keyword in your owner view and 1898 as a visitor:
    http://www.krahephotography.com/keyword/new%20zealand#1413356231_2rjqqV2

Comparing owner and visitor view, there are photos that are in password protected galleries like this one:
    http://www.krahephotography.com/Events/Kierans-Party/18288601_hKHZNH#1407537629_zgbbwcM
Those won't show up in keywords or any search for visitors. Only when you're logged in as the account owner, those show up.

    2. Check the gallery settings for such a gallery and make sure that 'hide owner' is set to no. Hide owner would make the gallery look like a generic SmugMug gallery with no links back to your site. If you still have questions, include a link to a gallery in question so we could take a look. Also include details from what page you got the link.

It seems a bit lapse that the situation can and does occur really, are we to be expected to have to search for everything in our sites to track down missing items and correct it in order to know that anyone else taking an interest will be able to find our content?

If I use multiple gallery settings and turn off hello smuggers for the entire site then turn it back on again for the whole site would this re-build the index for everything and remove any possibility of this affecting other searches?

    Hello,

By missing content are you referring to hidden photos? If you have hidden photos, you will see a box checked in the lower right corenr under the main image when the photo is hidden. We are looking into changing the way that hidden photos will be displayed while you're logged in, this will help you identify them. Please have a look here: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/289143-clearly-indentify-hidden-photos-and-make-it-easi?ref=title

Correct, if you turn the Hello Smuggers off for your entire site, then turn it back on, this should reindex your site. You won't have to do that in the gallery settings though. From your homepage, click TOOLS > CONTROL PANEL, go to the setitngs tab, and you can make the site wide change there. Please make sure the page states that the change has been made before you toggle Hello Smuggers back to yes.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or problems.

No I was not referring to hidden content, as far as I am aware I have nothing hidden.

I was referring to the content not appearing in a search because smugmug for some reason had not indexed it.

The sitewide setting will be much easier, I only have one or two galleries set to no hello smuggers so much easier to set those back to no than setting everything else back to yes :)

The issue is resolved for me now, thank you everyone.
