Problem with Adobe Updates

Whenever I try to download updates from Adobe for CS5 and it's associated programs, including Bridge, the download stops after a few seconds and tells me I need to 'Close Adobe Bridge', but I don't have Bridge open! What should I be doing differently? :dunno

    you probably set Bridge to run at start-up
    if so , go to task-manager and stop the process or process-tree
    may also check services to see if its not running there
