Hello all!

Looking to get into a 70-200 or something close. Can't quite afford the Nikon 70-200 VR II at the moment, so I'm looking for something less expensive.

Options I'm looking at :

Nikon 80-200 AF-D (2-ring design, not push/pull)
Sigma 70-200 HSM I, II, or APO OS.
Nikon 70-200 VR I

Thanks in advance guys!

The 70-200 2.8 VR is a great lens on a DX body if you can afford it.
The VRII is just great, regardless of the body, but even less affordable.
The 80-200 2.8D is a great lens if you can live without VR, and a massive bargain.
All three being Nikon Pro glass.
I only know what I've read in various forums, but it seems the Sigma is spotty at best.

    I've a Nikon 80-200 AF-D 2-ring that I've considered offering for sale.

You have just registered and have no information in your profile.
    Where are you located?

Sorry for the lack of info, I was in a bit of a rush to get registered so I could post and head off to work.
I'm actually located in Ohio, about 30 minutes west of Cleveland.

I'd be looking for a lens to compliment a DX body well, as I'm primarily shooting with a D7000, (and 5100 as back-up), currently.

I do not believe the 80-200 2.8D, or any D lens, will autofocus with the D5100...

Correct, but it will with the D7000, which is my main body anyway.

If you can find one... there is the 80-200/2.8 AFS that will AF on ALL new dSLRs.

Ah Yes, but the cost is quite a bit more, if you can find one...

I've seen them for ~900-1100. Still cheaper then a VRI...
