Chilkat Eagles

I went to Chilkat this past weekend to beat the rush of the Eagle Festival. I've wanted to go there for several years and finally did it this year. Bunch o birds to be sure. The weather/lighting was pretty bad. I highly recommend the trip for anyone who loves eagles.

All shot with D7000, 200-400VR w/1.4x TC, Bushhawk supported on monopod.
All shot at 1/1000, f5.6, ISO varied from 1600 to 6400

    Fabulous set, Dan. Some day I want to shoot eagles in Alaska. I'd always heard Homer was the place to go, but it looks like Homer has nothing on Chilkat. And congrats on your "magpie shot". Eagles and bears -- it just doesn't get any better than that. nod.gif

    The series is great. I especially like #2, because he looks like he's saying "I've got eyes in the back of my head and I see you shooting me! " thumb.gif

    Thanks, Harry. Yes I'm having to re-train my mind to utilize the higher ISO settings that the D7000 is capable of.

    Truly amazing series! You mentioned the lighting/weather wasn't ideal, sure didn't seem to affect your great shots.
