LR catalogs....lots of pics need to get organized

So I was very organized when I ran LR on 1 computer with one external HD. I have been using the Lacie 2 Big Quadra and it has been a solid performer. But it is only a 2 TB raid. And I am out of space.

The problem I have is this. Now I run a laptop too with its own catalogs. I had 1 main LR catalog that was working great. But this started running slow when I had events with 10,000 photos. Now I have multiple catalogs on each machine that are mixed up. It is now a complete cluster F. I bought an new 2 Big Quadra with 4TB so I will have double the space. I am thinking of a totally new organization for this.

Here is what I am thinking.

A folder for each year. Within this will be sub folders for catalogs

• A single catalog for my personal photos and projects.

• Events and big projects will get their own individual catalogs

So with more individual catalogs I am thinking it will be easier to keep the 2 computers synced up. I also have a few 1TB little drives to create some duplicate backups.

If LR was network compatible all of this would be easy as pie. I would just run everything off of the one drive on my wireless and be happy as a clam.

Thoughts and ideas for this would be much appreciated.
