These are some shots of a Great Grey Owl a couple weeks ago in Alberta. I really love how piercing the eyes are.

    Lovely shots! You captured their personalities too. Wish we had them here on the west coast!

    Both of those are positively striking images. Netgarden is right, their intent comes right out in those shots.

    Excellent captures, ypou caught it at the right time of day also. Looks like it was just getting ready to do some hunting.

    Thanks for all your comments. Moments after I took the first picture he dove off the fence post and into a farmers field to catch some dinner. Unfortunately unsuccessfully. I really like how in these images I was able to capture the "attitude" of the owl. And fortunately it wasn't too dark, which is typically the case when I see these guys, so I could keep my ISOs reasonable, and didn't get too much noise. I think these are one of my favorite animals to capture.
