    I was going to call it "Entry to Heaven" but my wife told me: "What ? To Heaven ? :D"

    I went back and named it only Entrance.

    I'm just trying to wrap my head around what I'm looking at...

    Is it HDR, selective color, uber-high contrast, or a combination?

    It the detail extractor in Nik software "Color Efex Pro 4", a voracious RAM eater.

    Very, very nice. thumb.gif Looking at that scene, I see 6 or 7 really good close-up shots that could be had and you wouldn't have to move 10 feet. Also, I like the PP work.

    Hey Toni,

    The processing is pretty cool. I wonder though whether it might be too much of a good thing. The color and detail are impressive, but the light appears to be the same on the outside and inside the doorway and on the stairs. One would expect the stairs to be darker and/or have a different color temperature. So for me, it ends up looking cool but unnatural. Perhaps you could selectively darken the doorway. ne_nau.gif

    I agree with Richard, Tony -- on first glance at least. On the other hand I'm not sure that stairway goes into the interior of a building. If the other side of the doorway is open to the sky then the consistent tone makes sense. But it does seem over-processed to me, a bit like some of the HDR that gets pushed too far in tone mapping. Guess I'm going to have to upgrade to the new Color Efex and see what all it does.

    This photo - the "Entrance" - made me think if - for a brief couple of days - I am not being taken by the stereotype of the plug-ins available I downloaded recently. :)
    In fact, I recognize I do have been conquered by the colors, facility of controls. Facility of controls ? What am I talking about ?? No controls what so ever. Just choose a set/recipe or what ever you want to call it and there we are: image done.

    No, this is not my way. I want to have large control over my images, using sets or not using sets but more on my own. Selfishness perhaps ? I admit.
    Moreover this kind of images fall in the style I often see in some places and which I do not want to follow.

    You want an example of what I do not wish to follow ?
    I have to admit however, that these images have impact and call one's attention.

    These assumptions do not mean that - one day in the near or far future - I will not change my mind. Now I am contradicting me: unperfect Human Beings ! mwink.gif

    Well... I was not happy with my version on the Entrance and I decided to dedicate some time to a review.

    However, I do not like the lights on the upper right of the image and I didn't want to make a severe crop.

    I am sorry to disappoint you but this was photographed in Varanasi, India.

    However, go to Cuba as similar situations are presented to your delight.

    The B&W conversion really is quite a solid piece of work, Antonio. The over-processing is gone and the guts of the whole thing stand out. I have to conclude that my earlier guess was right: Those stairs lead up to a space open to the sky. The edge of the roof in the upper right sort of confirms it. Very nice.

    Ha! No disappointment here, I knew it was India.

    The airfare is cheaper to Cuba, I've started to look at how I can get there legally. I've wanted to go there for years
