Overall a nice series and a boy to be proud of. However I have a few observations.

I notice that the pictures with the wooly hat are causing a shadow on the forehead and eyes. It looks like a mask, you can avoid this with a reflector panel. Secondly I miss the sharpness on the eyes. I am not sure how you focused, but if you did spot focus on the eyes then they would have been sharp. Afer all the eyes are the mirror of the sole. Maybe you have applied a soft focus filter ?
And as a last minor commend the color, I seem to notice some colorcast in 7. Possible a WB issue, did you work in RAW ? and if so you can adjust it with the temp slider in LR.

Anyhow you did a great job, with some lovely poses such as 2 and 5.

I am sure that mom will be happy.

Overall, a wonderful series. There's some weirdness going on around his ankles in #5. As if you left the red plaid lining in his jeans. Lose it. Just a sheet of foam core on the ground in front of him would have put some light under the cap. Next time!

What a beautiful kid! I love your tones.

Question: Is the soft focus an after effect or accidental? I would love to see #7 sharper if it were possible. Such amazing eyes!

I hestitate to comment because I'm certainly no expert yet myself but it's the best way to become a part of this community... So here goes: I love the textures in some of the shots (wood grain and vine) and the positioning. I too think the focus is either soft or off...And perhaps a light fill flash or reflector to lift the eyes out from under the hat. Beautiful kiddo for sure!

I think you got some really cute shots of this little guy but I echo much of what was already pointed out.
    Focus on those eyes....most important!

Thanks you for the replys everyone. I'm not sure why the eyes came out soft. I went back and pulled them up in camera raw to see where my focus points were. And the are right on the eye in all of them.

They were shot with my 50mm 1.4. Which has been such an incredible sharp lens thus far.

I shot them about an hour before dark, so my lighting was far from ideal.

Anyone have an ideas what caused this?
